It's been almost 15 years since she's been gone. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her somehow. Today is her Birthday, she would have been 55. She was most certainly a free spirit. Not a lot of people understood that about her, and were nasty to her due to that. Such a shame to lose a beautiful soul because people are unkind, they are scared of something that is not exactly like them. We as a society need to do better and teach our young to accept the differences we have and embrace them. You never know what you may get out of a quirky friendship. Most certainly you will get many laughs and happy moments to cherish through life. I know I did.
Marla was a one of a kind individual and I'm glad that I got the chance to experience all those years with her.
It was nice to read all of the previous condolences and experiences that you have had with her. For that, Thank You.
Happy Birthday up in Heaven Pip Squeak!!

She approached me in 6th grade, shaggy hair, huge smile, and we were inseparable for years after. Every positive change I went through was because of Marla--she knew how to coax me out of my shell. She thought better of me than I did myself. She was a free spirit of love, laughter, and adventure. I searched for her constantly when we hit adulthood, but I couldn't find her. Our reunion was short and bittersweet, and I'll carry this emptiness and confusion for the rest of my life. I still talk to her, I hope she hears me. Love you Mar. Always and forever.

Marla was my best friend during a crazy and impactful time in both our lives. I lost track of her decades ago and have searched for her online countless times.
My heart is shattered to hear she's gone.

Wow ! May Peace be with You Dina & Marla's family. It has been close to 20 years since my last contact with Marla. Marla was a very special person and made everyone she came in contact with feel the same. Marla worked for me for a very brief time in Arizona and we became friends. We spent hours at a time on the phone sharing our life experiences & directions we wanted to take in life. Marla was always very encouraging . When I would visit Chicago I would visit with Marla and she always make time for me. We lost contact through out the years. This past Tuesday I was listening to the radio and thought I heard Marla's laugh. So I decided to look her up. After 20 years Marla's laugh, smile & impression on me still lived fresh in my mind. 20 years from now she will be in your mind. Marla was a very special & sweet and always gave you her attention.
Barbara & Merril she was a one of kind, unique.
Marla I have missed you for 20 years and know someday we will or have met again.

To Marla's friends and family,
I wish we could tell you how much, the person Marla was loved here at work. She was such a sweet and caring person who would give you the shirt off her back. She always would listen intently to stories that I had about my kids. Would not really give advice but just be a shoulder to bounce things off of.
I so appreciated her personality, love oflife and people. she truly cared for all people.
As i was scraping the snow off my car, I think of her always. She bought me the biggest snow brush I have ever seen! It brought a smile to my face and I will always remember her bright smile. God bless, Marla.

For the past four years, it has been my privilege to serve with Marla as a volunteer for the Palatine EMA. Although we only saw each other a few times during the year, each meeting was like a reunion with an old friend. I always appreciated Marla's sense of humor. She will be sorely missed.
Dina, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope your cherished memories of your life together bring you peace.
For all of Marla's family and friends, I pray for comfort as you mourn this great loss.

My birthday last year was a blast, going out with a few friends from work and seeing a side of Marla that I hadn't had the chance to see yet aside from work. Marla was a very thoughtful and caring friend. When I moved to MN just a month ago, Marla wished me the best of luck and had so many encouraging things to say to me. Marla, you will be missed.

There are no words in any language that can fully express the sorrow for the loss of this beautiful person from the earth.
I had the fortune of meeting Marla relatively recently. She was had such a light to her personality that just drew people to her like moths to a flame. When speaking with her she made you feel as if you were talking with a frend you had known your entire life. She was and will always be a classic beauty.
I feel blessed to have known her and been able to enjoy time with her & Dina at the Enuff-z-nuff concert at Chicago City Limits and the Bannerman's outing. I have a beautiful picture of Marla from the concert I will cherish.
Dina I wish you peace and comfort in your memories with Marla, the love that was most evident between the two of you was inspiring to see and be in the presense of. Thank you for the introduction to Marla.
If the is anything you need please just reach out either for a shoulder to cry on and ear to listen or anything. Please know there are many of us that are here for you!
