Mark Bentley Obituary

Mark L. Bentley of Brockton passed away March 26, 2014, at the Kindred Tower Hill Center in Canton. He was 64. Mark was born in Longview, Wash., after high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during Vietnam. He was awarded a Bronze Star with a V device and two Purple Hearts, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and many more. After his tour in the Army, Mark enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving his country for over 20 years active service and retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. He then worked for Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Jamaica Plain and then Brockton as an IT specialist. Mark was a longtime member of American Legion Post 22 in Whitman. Mark was a wonderful human being, a patriot, devoted husband and great friend. He will be missed. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemarie L. (Durante) Bentley. He was the son of Helen Joan (Lawrence) Bentley of Apple Valley, Calif., and the late Clifford Bentley; brother of Scott Bentley of Pasadena, Calif., and the late John Bentley and Joanne Klouzal; son-in-law of Jennie Durante of Quincy; brother-in-law of Gail and the late Clement of Hanson, Gail and her late husband Vincent of Texas, Annabella Ginches and her husband Fred of Norwell, Robert Mood and his late wife Carmella of Quincy, and Rico Durante and his wife Linda of Whitman. Also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved him. Visiting hours in the MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St., Whitman, Sunday, March 30, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
