I have many memories of how lovely Marion was, inside and outside, but one of my favorites is of the day she hosted a “ladies lunch” in Lake Geneva for Beth’s school friends and I was fortunate enough to be invited. We had a wonderful afternoon with fun conversation and good food; one dish was “Garden Pizza” that we all enjoyed and Marion was gracious enough to share her recipe. I served the dish at home, and although it was not as good as when Marion served it, many members of my family also loved it. Even though Marion presented it with such ease, I found it to be time consuming and very messy to make. My sister demands that I make that darn pizza for her birthday every year. So every August I think fondly of Marion (as I am trying not to swear while preparing it and wondering how she pulled it off so well) and thank her for giving me a family tradition. I still have the recipe on her original recipe card and will cherish it forever. My son has already asked that the Garden Pizza recipe be handed down, so he will also enjoy it for many years to come. So with all of her many altruistic contributions, here’s a seemingly small one that demonstrates how she positively impacted people’s lives.
