Mario Hernandez Obituary

Yesterday would have been our 49th anniversary my husband. Im trying very hard to move on. I love you babe and look forward to someday holding you on the other side.

It is hard to believe you have been gone for over a year. Just looking at pics when you, Lynn and I went to San Felipe. That was over 29 years ago. You made me try the fish tacos....mmmm delicious. They became the new fad.

I miss you my brother.

Just recently heard about Mario. We have fond memories of Mario during our days spent in El Centro. He was a all around great guy, and we loved him. Keeping Lynn and the girls in our prayers. Love The Gerleve Family

Lynn, my deepest condolences. Mario was a great guy even at the age of 6. He was a good friend and a good baseball player as we grew up in Somerton. I will always remember him fondly. You and family are in my prayers.

When I met Mario 30 years ago in El Centro, we were instant friends. At the academy, he always spoke of his wife and six daughters with love and pride. I asked him once if he wished he had had a son, and he instantly replied, "No, cause the girls all spoil me."
Upon returning from the academy, your family was my family, as they will always be. You gave my daughter a loving home while I
worked.
Mario walked me down the aisle when I remarried and Lynn was
my matron of honor. Mario, I will always be there for your family, as you were there for mine.

Thoughts and prayers to your family. I worked and played alot of softball games for the Sheriff's office and Narcotic Task Force. I also worked with Ms. Angela Hernandez at the DEA Task Force. Mario was a great agent and friend. We worked together for 22 years in both the El Centro and Calexico Border Patrol Stations. When I think of Mario, I don't picture him in a BP Uniform, I see him in his brown jacket and white hat and big smile. I will always remember you "Black Rhino".

Mario was my coach many years ago. Some of the best memories from my childhood are from when I was playing on his team. He is amazing, and so invested in bringing out the best in the kids. Now that I'm grown, and have children of my own, I find myself thinking of him often as I look for people to coach and work with my kids. I look for mentors who come up to his standard, and there really are none. He was the best. I haven't seen him since I was younger, but for a long time I'd been thinking of finding him, and thanking him, for the influence he had on me when I was growing up. I regret that I missed the opportunity to do that... but I will always be grateful. ~ Kristy (Seals) Leon

I'm sorry for your loss. Even though I did not know Mario well, I know he was very loved. Gloria, Adrian & the kids would speak so highly of him. I know they will miss him dearly but his memory will always be in their hearts. Rest in Peace.
