Mario Bustos Obituary

Bustos, Mario A beloved husband and father, Mario Bustos of Chicago, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014 at age 63. He was a grandfather, brother, uncle, Godfather, coach, mentor, volunteer, friend, and true asset to the Pilsen community. Born August 4, 1951, Mario brings truth to the statement that "only the good die young." He spent many years as a board member of Harrison Park's Pilsen Athletic Conference, and even in retirement, went to work for the Union League Boys and Girls club. Mario worked hard to provide for his family, including as a valued City of Chicago employee through over 30 years of dedicated service. Mario was the devoted father of Anita and Erik and loyal husband of Renetta. His best friend was his granddaughter Trinity and his new pride and joy was (granddaughter) Amila. Mario had many talents, including cooking huge family dinners with a wide array of dishes aimed at luring family members into moments of togetherness. He loved many things, including shopping, and helping children and the community. Mario will be forever missed (even by his dogs Heidi and Tsunami), but his legacy endures through the many lives he touched and the lessons he taught. The funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 23 at St. Adalberts Church, 1650 W. 17th St., Chicago, IL. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice. Visitation is 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 22 at the church.

We will miss seen that friendly face going up and down the street during the winter clearing the snow for those families elderly or sick, and during the summer cutting their grass. Mario did this despite the pain he suffered from shingles. Will miss seeing him play outside with his granddaughter Trinity, his pride and joy. Will miss watching him manicure his back yard with Renee helping him. Goodbye dear friend you'll be forever in our hearts.
