Higgins, Marie G. (nee Volino) Age 90. Beloved wife of the late James E. Higgins Jr. Loving mother of James III, Jeanne Roppolo, Joseph P., Judith (Lowell) Gilbert, Janet (Joey) Guide and Jennifer Higgins. Dear grandmother of Prema, Radha, James IV (Chini), Dina, Justin (Jenny), Elspeth, Christina (Kenneth), Gina (Ryan), Jenna (Kevin), Jenelle (Seth) and the late Joshua; great-grandmother of Kaleb, Adam, James V, Matthew, Samantha, Kea, Danny, Hudson, Madison, Joseph, Brianna and Nicholas. Devoted daughter of the late Vito M. and the late Raffaella (nee Ventura) Volino. Dearest sister of Alice (Frank) Cosentino and the late Margaret Barry, sister-in-law of the late Eileen McCormack. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Founding member of the Our Lady of the Snows Parish, as well as lector, Eucharistic Minister, Sacristan for the Family Mass and Minister of Care, recipient of the Woman of the Year Award of the Council of Catholic Women Vicariate V (2008), recipient of the Chicago Archdiocese Christifideles Award (2009) and St. Vincent DePaul Society. Charter volunteer at the Chicago Midway Airport Chapel. Former Republican Election Judge and retired Librarian and Substitute Teacher at Charles Sahs Elementary Public School. Funeral Monday, July 30, 2018, 11:15 a.m. from the Richard-Midway Funeral Home, 5749 Archer Ave. (Corner of Lorel) to Our Lady of the Snows Church for 12:00 noon Mass.Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
