Camacho de Álvarez, María Guadalupe "Lupe" Born May 30, 1952 was called home to God on June 3, 2013 after her battle with cancer. Lupe came to Chicago in 1972, convincing her heart, Enrique Álvarez Alcantar to leave their home town of Cd. Hidalgo, Michoacán Mexico and join her. A feisty woman, Lupe believed in education; nothing was too much for her babies. Ary, Vanessa, Mitchell, Chanel and Alex attended private school, no matter how much it cost. Lupe had her own language: a mix of her English, Spanish and Lupe-isms that she passed on to her only granddaughter, A'deena as well. We all know what it means to concher or if it's froggy. Lupe's love for cumbia dancing does not match her love for the singer Juan Gabriel. When he hurt, she hurt, fall and all. This love could be heard while she sang his songs to liven up social gatherings or during Saturday morning cleaning days. No one ever misunderstood her; she was direct by nature, from her teen years of paying her siblings to do her chores to her last moments. Lupe lived her life on her terms. In lieu of flowers, support The National Alliance for Hispanic Health in memorial of Lupe, and designate it to Community Awareness - Preventative Care Fund. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Matthias Church, 2310 W Ainslie, Chicago IL, 60625 on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 1pm.

My condolences to the entire family my prayers are with you. Though I may only know Mitch I can honestly say that she has raised a good man if his sisters are anything like him she raised wonderful human beings. God be with you always.
