Dear Dan and Matt:

The death of one's Mother, is perhaps,severing the closest of all human ties. For one's Mother, one is "always" a child, no matter what age. We extend our deepest sympathy to the both of you and your families. What remains for you to do for your Mother is to continue to instill in your own children and grandchildren the same deposit of love and hope, determination and vision, and the thirst for excellence that this lovely woman placed in you.

March 22, 2004

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. Margaret leaves behind a legacy of love that will be carried on throughout the years which is very well stated in this poem by Turlough O'Carolan.......

A mother's love determines how

We love ourselves and others.

There is no sky we'll ever see

Not lit by that first love.

Stripped of love, the universe

Would drive us mad with pain;

But we are born into a world

That greets our cries with joy.

How much I owe you for the kiss

That told me who I was!

The greatest gift--a love of life--

Lay laughing in your eyes.

Because of you my world still has

The soft grace of your smile;

And every wind of fortune bears

The scent of your caress.

Dear Matt, Dan, and the entire family,

As a former rector of St. Ignatius Jesuit Community, I want to express my sorrow at this moment of great loss for you and us and this time of great joy in heaven as Margaret reaches the end of her wonderful journey on earth. As an alumnus (class of '47) of St. Ignatius College Prep, I want to thank you for all your support and kindness to us Jesuits and to the School that has meant so much to so many over so many years. Margaret's spirit is clearly in you and has spread to us too. She saw with eyes of faith all the opportunties of living generously and creatively each day. I'm sure that heaven too will be a place of opportunity for her to be close to you in more marvelous ways. I am offering several Masses for her.

Gratefully,

Fr. Jim Creighton, S.J.

Rev. James Chambers, S.J.

March 21, 2004

I am a Jesuit priest living at St. Ignatius College Prep. I am also a graduate of St. Ignatius, the class of 1942. The Jesuits are very grateful for the many helps that the Walsh family has done for St. Ignatius.

Margaret and Matthew have trained their children very well. I think of the Jobs at the Walsh Construction Company that have provided support for countless Chicago families!

I am sure that Margaret and Matthew are enjoying great rewards with Our Lady in Heaven!

Matt and Dan, We were sorry to hear of your mother's death. She had an incredible life. I can remember meeting her when I was in grammar school and she was always gracious and fun.I had not seen her in over thirty years and the last time I saw her, a few years ago, she was still gracious and full of life. Her life should be an example for all of us. We will remember your mother and all the Walsh family in our prayers.

We just read in the online Chicago Tribune obituary section about Margaret. (We are currently on a holiday in Venice, Fla.)

What a super life she had! We had no idea she was that old because she was always the same. I even saw her at Ridge a few months back and she remembered my name, etc.

Please accept our sympathies and prayers. We feel so fortunate to have known such a woman. Her faith and generosity and good will toward all made her very special. Love,
