Healy, Margaret M. "Peg"
Margaret M. "Peg" Age 87, of Bryn Mawr, PA died November 11, 2021. President of Rosemont College (1995-2001),Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of Bryn Mawr College (1978-95), Peg devoted her life to the service of higher education and numerous social welfare institutions in the Philadelphia area, among them Project H.O.M.E. whose board she chaired in its early years. Peg also served as a trustee of seven colleges and universities, among them Villanova (PA), St. John's and Sarah Lawrence (NY), and Holy Cross (MA). Born in Chicago to Nora M. and Patrick J. Healy, emigrants from Ireland. Predeceased by her sister Nora, Peg is survived by her sister Eileen; Nora's partner, Terry Gonzalez; her friend of more than 60 years, Mary Patterson McPherson, President of Bryn Mawr College during Peg's years as Treasurer; and many other friends, old and new. A graduate of Rosary College (IL), A.B. in philosophy/mathematics, she earned a second degree in philosophy from the University of Louvain in Belgium as a Fulbright Scholar, an M.A. from St. John's University (NY) and a Ph.D. from Bryn Mawr College (PA). Awarded five honorary doctorates and numerous national awards, Peg was loved for her belief in the goodness of people, her generosity, her zest for life, and her wonderful parties. Friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on Wed. Dec. 15, 11 AM at the Rosemont College Chapel, 1400 Montgomery Ave., Bryn Mawr PA and to a Memorial Celebration on Saturday March 26, 2022 11 AM also at Rosemont College. Masks will be required at both events. Memorial gifts may be made to Project H.O.M.E. , 1515 Fairmount Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19130.
