MADALENE SLATER Obituary

MADALENE SLATER, 80, of Fort Wayne, died on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at Anderson Hospital, in Maryville, Ill. Born June 5, 1934, in Rich lands, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Alfred Dunn Horne and Mamie Horne. She was a member of Waynedale United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife of 62 years to the late, Philip W. Slater and a wonderful homemaker for her family. She is survived by son, Todd (Nancy) Slater; granddaughters, Sarah and Laura; and sister, Velma Jenkins. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Lynn Slater; twin sister, Margaret Roberts; and brother, Neil Horne. Service is 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling 30 minutes prior to service. Calling also from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens.
