Dr. M. Hari Kishan Rao

M. Rao Obituary

Rao, M. Hari Kishan born July 1, 1937, to M. Laxman and Venkentamma, died December 4, 2003, in Hyderabad, India. He is survived by his three sons, Srikant of Chicago, IL, Jaidave (Cynthia Conn) of Vienna, VA, and Ravi of Cincinnati, OH. Dr. Rao was a graduate of Osmania University and Osmania Medical School. After working for a brief time for the Indian Health Service, he came to the United States in 1965 and began his general surgical training at the Robert Packer Hospital and Guthrie Clinic in Sayre, Pennsylvania. He later completed his training as a chest and cardiovascular surgeon at Saint Vincent's Charity Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio and Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL. Dr. Rao was a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons, and practiced cardiovascular surgery for over 25 years in Chicago. Dr. Rao served as President of the Medical Staff and the Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Holy Cross Hospital. He also served as president of the Federation of Indian Assocations. A Memorial service will be held for Dr. Rao at the Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago located at 10915 Lemont Road, Lemont, IL 60439 on Saturday, January 3, 2004. Services to begin at 12 p.m., with a reception to follow from 1 to 5 p.m.
