M. McAuliffe Obituary

Mc Auliffe, M. Eileen age 84 years and 10 months, died at home on November 30, 2006. She was a devoted sister of the late Dolores G., Jeremiah J. and Frank R. McAuliffe. Beloved aunt of six nieces. The daughter of a prominent Chicago Fire Department family, Eileen received a Bachelor of Arts from Rosary College in 1943, a Bachelor of Education from Northwestern University in 1956, and a Doctor of Philosophy from Northwestern University in 1966. She taught elementary education in the Chicago Public School system and special needs children at the Presbyterian St. Luke's Day School. Tireless in her efforts to promote reading, during her retirement, Eileen continued to assist her good friend Margaret Long in the classroom two days a week. The last of an extraordinary generation, she will ever be lovingly remembered. Family and friends will meet Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at Queen of All Saints Basilica, 6280 N. Sauganash Ave., Chicago, for visitation at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 11 am.
