Flanagan, Louise A. age 94, stepmother of JET Senior Editor, Sylvia P. Flanagan, passed away at home. Born in Memphis, TN, she was the daughter of Lewis and Johnanna DeLoache. Her parents moved to Chicago when she was seven years old. For forty years she was an English teacher at Betsy Ross Elementary School until she retired in 1974. She was a concert pianist and harpist, too. Their interests and activities were focused on education, etiquette, opera, ballet and theatre. She survived two husbands. In 1933 she married Jeremiah B. Murray, that union lasted until his death in 1973. In May 1984, she married Norman B. Flanagan, this marriage lasted until his death in 1998. In addition to her stepdaughter Sylvia, she is survived by four stepsons, Norman J., Theodore, Victor and Ricardo; stepdaughter Eileen Bradley and sister-n-law Elizabeth Flanagan. She is also survived by a host of step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held for Louise A.
