Louis Patras Obituary

Dear Bud: I thank God you were my big brother. I learned much from you. You were wonderful to my family and we all loved you and will miss you. You excelled in everything that is important and right in life. You educated many more people in addition to your students. May God bless you forever. Love, Ray, Sue and family

I graduated Rich Central High School in 1979 and my sister Diane graduated in 1981.(Our maiden names were Meyer) We both had Mr. Patras and he was one of our very favorite teachers. We are very sorry for your loss.

Mr Patras,

Your class was one of my favorite out of the whole day. You treated us like we were equal. You believed learning was supposed to be a discussion and not a lecture and I think that is great! It really inspired me that you went back to teach even though you were retired. I could tell you really loved what you did for us, which was a lot even though we only met you five weeks ago. I could tell you lived your life to the fullest and enjoyed life. I wish I could have known you for a longer period of time!

I was fortunate enough to have you as a high school english teacher and get to work with you at Rich Township. I truly enjoyed our days spent talking about Rich Central and the new news of Rich Township. I will miss you forever!

I will always treasure the pleasant visits I have had with Lou in the Rich Township Office in recent years. He was never my teacher-- I was not a member of his family-- but through his friendship, he offered all that and more. I enjoyed our conversations which demonstrated his warm and friendly manner and his true concern about other people (especially his family). I count myself among his many friends who will always remember him for his kindness, sense of humor and creative talent.



You will be missed, but never forgotten.

You were truly a great, loving, funny and smart uncle. You were so good to me. I am going to miss you so much! I'm going to miss not worrying about you being my teacher. Today I would take you as my teacher any day. Thank you for being such a great Uncle!

My deepest sympathies to you in the loss of such a wonderful man. I had the great privilege of having Mr. Patras for several classes at Rich Central in the mid 70's. He was an extraordinary teacher. I know he touched many lives in his years as an educator and community leader. May your memories, which I'm sure are abundant, comfort you in your sorrow. Thank you for sharing Mr. Patras with all of us.

You gave the greatest gift possible to my children when you instilled the love of writing and reading the written word to them. For that, I will be eternally grateful. Your leadership on the school board taught me to be a better school board member and your friendship during your years at Central will always be cherrished. Thank you for enriching the lives of my family. You will be missed.

Our thoughts are with you at this trying time. It is a terrible shock to lose someone you love so suddenly. You were blessed with a great person to love in your lives, whether he was your husband,father, brother, son, uncle, teacher or friend. He will greatly miseed. You are all in our prayers.

Dad, I am so grateful that God chose me to be your daughter. I could not have asked for a more loving, supportive, protective, and affectionate father. I miss you so much, but I know you will always be with me. I hope you and Grandpa are having a wonderful time reuniting. The Erdmier family lived in Oly. Flds. All seven children graduated from Rich Central. I am a retired teacher from 162. Our sympathetic thoughts are with all of you. His memory will live on.

Mr. Patras,

You were by far one of the best and most well-remembered of my teachers. You helped mentor my great love of writing and provided endless encouragement to improve upon those writing skills. Your passing is a loss to not only those family, friends and students who loved and knew you but also to those who will never benefit from your teaching.
