I knew Lou Beres for over 50 years, at Northwestern and in business, and he never changed. He was always straightforward, intelligent, charming, and unfailingly caring. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. And to Cathy, who knows that better than any of us, all my love and all the best...

I WAS FORWARDED THIS OBITURARY BY A THETA DELT FRIEND. I REMEMBER LOU COMING TO ME AND ASKING ADVICE ABOUT IF HE SHOULD RUN FOR PRESIDENT OF THE STUDENT GOVERING BOARD. I WAS A FRESHMAN IN MEDICAL SCHOOL AT THE TIME. I CALLED THE BROTHERS TOGETHER AND ASKED THEM IF THEY WOULD WORK 24/7 ON THE CAMPAIGN. THEY SID "YES" AGAINST TWO OTHER CANDIATES WHO HAD SPONSONSHIP. LOU WON AND I WAS SO VERY PROUD OF HIM. IT WAS JUST THE START OF A WONDERFUL LIFE!

When someone elevates anything to a high

enough level of perfection, it becomes an

art form, and they become an artist.

.

Lou was an artist when it came to being: a

human being, a gentleman with great

character, a debate champion, the finest

marketing and account man I have ever met,

a leader, a businessman, a husband to his

beloved wife Cathy, a father to Drew and

Damon, a brother, and a dear friend (he

was mine for 33 years). I will never forget

him as long as I live. I feel so fortunate to

have met him, and shared half of his life

time.

.

When the artist died,

.

we burned him.

.

That's why when you walk

.

across these fields,

you see flowers.

To the Beres Family,

Lou was a very special person. He was my first manager when I worked at Alberto-Culver. I could not have asked for a nicer manager. Just to let you know more of his many talents, he could read my shorthand when I couldn't. I've thought alot about him over the years. He was a special person.

All of us who were lucky enough to know Lou realize that it was a blessing to have him in our life. He was an unusual man, a very giving man and someone who would always put you first. He was always interested in you. Perhaps that was one reason why he was so very interesting to others. I cannot imagine what my life would be like without having known him. He was always there for me and my family. He taught me much about life, what is really important and always supported the path I chose to be on. Lou, you will always be close to me in my heart. Thank you for all your contributions over the years. Cathy, Drew and Damon - we are always here for you. Friends for life!

I have spent very little time with your family over the past two years. However, in that short time, I have seen that Lou is all and more than John could have ever described. Lou is an inspiring individual, and I will cherish the few conversations that I had with him through the rest of my life.

John and I love you all and will remember Lou forever.

Sending our dearest love,

Wow, Cathy. What an amazing man and an amazing life. I'm so proud to have known Lou through you. Lou leaves so many footprints here, doesn't he? It seems that this can-do man chose a true can-do partner in life. So many times, your "Can I do this?" was merely rhetorical, because of course you could and you can and you will. Sending you lots of love from here, and only wishing I lived closer so I could come and honor your shoulder-to-shoulder battle and the celebration of Lou's outstanding life.
