Dear Bari and Lee,
We've never met but I know who you are. My grandparents lived on the second floor of the two-flat owned by your grandparents Jack and Belle Cohn at 5552 W. Congress St. in Chicago's Columbus Park neighborhood from approx. 1924 to 1938. My mother, Evelyn Cohen, now 95-years old, knew your father and uncles Stanley and Bobby very well and in fact, took art lessons with your Uncle Stanley from an art teacher who came to my grandparents' apartment at 5552. My mother also knew your mother and her sister and quickly recalled that their maiden name was Lewis. Somewhere I have a great studio photo of your dad with his brothers and if I recall correctly, they're wearing knickers. I grew up in Winnetka and am the same age as your second cousin Stuart Cohn, son of Sanford and Phyliss Cohn and grandson of Harry and Sadie Cohn. My sincere condolences on the loss of your mother and I would be vey happy to speak with you if you like.
Sincerely,
May 23, 2013
