Loren Douglas Ekl, Jr., 74, of Wenona, passed away at 5:05 p.m., Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, IL.

He was born November 11, 1948 in Chicago to Loren and Anne (Chochola) Ekl. He married Judy Pillig on April 8, 1972, in Berwyn, IL. She survives.

Also surviving is one son Loren Ekl, III of Magnolia, IL; one daughter Angela (Joe) Lipinski of Wenona, IL; two brothers Wayne (Noreen) Ekl of Orland Park, IL and Rick (Helen) Ekl of Bridgeview, IL; five grandchildren Jessica (Aaron) Taber, Elisha Ekl, Jenna (Stihl) Beeler, Jordan Lipinski and Jeriana Lipinski; two great-grandchildren Camron and Aubrey; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Ernie Baker.

Loren was a Vietnam veteran with the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion Post #8 in Wenona, IL. He loved the outdoors and especially fishing. Loren worked for J&F Steel in Chicago, IL for more than 20 years retiring as a receiving clerk.

There will be no services. Cremation will be accorded. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.
