If you looked up the word "class" the name of Mrs. Rochford would be right next to it. She was a dear friend of my parents former Deputy Police Supt. Pierce Fleming and his wife Joan. When Supt. Rochford retired he asked me to put together a "movie" to be shown at his retirement party. That meant that I spent many hours with Mrs. Rochford and she should be made a saint for that. She was a super nice lady.

The admirable Mrs. Lois Rochford was a paragon of compassion, benevolence, empathy, charity, spirituality, family values and grace. This dynamic woman was one of my mother's all time closest friends. She was also a cherished friend of my late father. She was married to James Rochford a former and venerable Chicago Police Superintendent who served under Mayor Richard J. Daley. I was blessed to know this wonderful giant of a man. I've had the pleasure to be friends with their daughter Lizzie who is simply brilliant, refined and incomparable. Her husband is a great, great guy ! In closing, Mrs. Lois Rochford's meritorious life will earn her a bucolic and pastoral place in eternal paradise.

She was my adopted grandmother, and Jim my grandfather, from the time we first met as neighbors at Placido Mar. Her smile was infectious, her courage great, and her love, unmeasurable. I so look forward to more time together in heaven with them both!
