Lois O'Toole Obituary

FROID — Lois "Dolly" O’Toole, 75, a lifelong Froid area resident, passed away Sunday morning, June 29, 2003, at the Mercy Medical Center in Williston, N.D., after a courageous battle with cancer.
A funeral honoring Lois’ life will be celebrated Wednesday morning, July 2, at the Froid Gymnasium at 10 a.m. (MDT), with Rev. Tim Hutslar officiating. Cremation will follow.
Lois Lorraine Purvis was born March 18, 1928, to Robert and Angelo (Walks) Purvis in Fargo, N.D. The family moved to a farm west of Froid when Lois was only a year-and-a-half. Her family also included an older brother, Merton (Pete), and a younger brother, Robert, Jr. "Bobby." She attended school there, graduating from Froid High School in 1946.
She continued working in Froid after graduation, where she met Jim O’Toole. They married on Dec/ 17, 1948. Together, they ran their business, the Mint Bar and Cafe, for some 43 years before retiring in 1990. In Froid, they also raised their family of six children.
Lois never stopped being a mother. The most important thing in her life was her family and she also took special delight in children. She said one time that the only thing she kind of wished she had done differently in her life was to become a teacher. Little did she know she was a wonderful teacher and an inspiration to all who knew her.
She was a member of the Froid Congregational Church and Ladies Aid, where she was very active.
Lois is survived by her loving husband, James; her four sons, Mike O’Toole (Cindy) of Polson (and their children, Kerri and Kati), Steve (Holly) O’Toole of Sidney (and their children, Mark and Erin), Joe O’Toole of Froid, Jerry (Sherie) O’Toole of Froid (and their children, Kendi, Michael and Shelby); her two daughters, Patty (Phil) Petrik of Sidney (and their children, Alli (Greg), Mike (Sarah), Kale and Kallie) and Denise (Carl) Benson of Plains (and their children, Bryce and Cole); six great-grandchildren, Jonah, Sami, Julia, Skylar, Ethan and Brendon; and brother, Merton (Pete) Purvis.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert "Bobby."
Lois passed away with her family at her side. She will be missed by all who knew her.
The family wishes memorials be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Friends may call Wednesday at the gymnasium for the hour preceding the service.
