Lloyd O’Meara Obituary

Lloyd E. O’Meara

Mr. Lloyd Earle O’Meara, age 81, of Winchester, Virginia, died Monday, September 8, 2003, at his residence.

Mr. O’Meara was born July 1, 1922 in Washington, D.C., the son of the late Earle Edwin and Margaret Smoot O’Meara. He was a Senior Trust Officer and served as President and Vice President at Caldwell Trust Company in Venice, Florida, until his retirement in 1987. He had worked his way up from clerk to Vice President with Riggs National Bank in Washington, D.C. in his twenty-five years there, and was a former officer with the Southeast Bank of Sarasota, Florida and Senior Trust Officer at the First National Bank of Venice, Florida. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Winchester and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Venice, Florida.

While living in Florida, Mr. O’Meara was involved in the Kiwanis Club, Selby Foundation, Red Cross Committee, Hospice Board, S.W. Florida Estate Planning Council, and the United Way. He was also a Cub Scout leader. Mr. O’Meara served on the House of Mercy Board in Washington, D.C. He also served in Lay Eucharistic Ministry in Christ Church and was a Senior High Sunday School Teacher and served on the vestry at Rock Creek Parish, Washington, D.C.

Mr. O’Meara was a graduate of American University, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and attended the Washington College of Law. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Coast Guard as a Seaman 1st Class.

Mr. O’Meara married Elaine June Prescher on June 20, 1943 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Rock Creek Parish in Washington, D.C.

Surviving with his wife is a daughter, Kathleen C. Westover of Winchester, VA; two sons, Stephen L. O’Meara of Silver Spring, MD and Paul D. O’Meara of Damascus, MD; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a sister, June French of Alexandria, VA. A brother, Daniel O’Meara, is deceased.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 A.M. on Saturday, September 20, 2003 at Christ Episcopal Church, with the Reverend Douglas McCaleb officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, #405, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
