Linda Scott Obituary

Linda Marie SCOTT April 4, 1950 - September 29, 2002 Born in New York City where parents, Michael J. Scott, M.D. and Nadine I. Scott, R.N., were on active duty with the United States Army Medical Corps. She has an older sister, Nadine D. Henley, J.D. and a younger brother Michael J. Scott, III, D.O. and sister, Anola M. Scott, R.N. Her nephews were Stephen, Robert, Jonathan, and James. Her nieces were Nadine and Anola. Brothers-in-law were Stephen Henley, J.D. and James Browne. The focus of her life has been her daughter, Amy, who attends St. Joseph's Grade School. Fortunately, almost all were present at her bedside as she peacefully passed away. Linda graduated from Our Lady of the Lake Grade School, Blanchet High School and the University of Washington. Linda received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Medicine/Preventive Health from the University of Washington and went on to receive her MBA in Business and J.D. in Law. She worked with an outstanding and wonderful group of fellow employees with the Washington State Department of Transportation. Prior to this Linda worked eight years in the King County Superior Court for Honorable Judge Nancy Holman. She also worked for Seafirst Bank, now Bank of America, "Legal Unit", for seven years before coming to the Department of Transportation. Although somewhat quiet Linda possessed a fun, loving personality and made friends readily wherever she went. Often called "Lindy" or "Lin", by some, she was noted for an optimistic attitude. Her primary concern was always the welfare of others. This caring attitude continued throughout her entire life as she always put herself last. Linda was an inspiration and an example of how to live with warmth, love, faith, dignity, integrity and humor without complaint despite whatever cards life dealt her. Linda's characteristic concern for others, rather than herself, persisted even during her last few breaths. She notoriously befriended all animal life and they reciprocated in kind. Linda considered life a precious gift and she truly appreciated it. Not only a relative, Lindy was a true, loyal and considerate friend. Funeral Services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Capitol Hill in Seattle, 700 - 18th Avenue East on Thursday, October 3, 2002 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Cross Mausoleum in Los Angeles. Linda,

Even though we only knew you through your brother Mike, we pray that your soul may rest in everlasting peace, Amen. May your family and your daughter, Amy, have the strength and courage to rejoice in your memories.

As a co-worker with Linda for several years at the Office of Minority & Women's Business Enterprises, I was privileged to know Linda. That was a rough time for her, but her love for Amy and her family sustained her and shined through every day at OMWBE. I and her other co-workers (Stan, Ernesto and Gloria) were shocked and saddened to learn of her passing. I was visiting Shoreline WSDOT on Monday, Sept. 30 and had planned to contact her, but my schedule prevented it. Needless to say, I was most upset today when I was informed of her death. My prayers are with Amy and hope that Linda's family will cherish her as Linda did. Cathy Canorro
