Linda present today would have shared and comforted me in the tremendous challenges that continue. Our long conversations, our trusting thoughts, frustrations, sadness, pains and hurts we shared, never judging but understanding. We took our steps along this journey accepting our frailties and mistakes, even when we were afraid and alone. Receiving this reminder of her legacy is so timely. I am conforted being able to write in memory that which remains so deep in my heart. Linda was as close to me as a sister and our love and respect was mutual. Time only makes it more true. Googling Grandpa to see his many Op-Eds in the Sun-Times, and I find this guest book. Reading all of these heart-felt posts brought tears to my eyes. Linda was such a special spirit in this world, and I still miss her terribly. I know she's proud of me... and I carry her spirit of love with me wherever I go... and in all the work I do.

Linda,
So hard to believe that it's been a year since we last talked and laughed together. My baby girl was born on November 27th and is almost 9months old now; I was just telling my girl friend that her spirit reminds me so much of you. She has a kind sweet smile and is so truly genuine. I know in my heart that Chris sent her to me and I think that just maybe he added a dab of the most wonderful women in his life... I wish you were here to see her.
I can still remember calling you to tell you that I had found out I was having a girl. You cried and so did I.
I miss you and of course Christopher more than words can say.
As you always said... give yourself a big hug and until next time; love you!

Linda,
Each day, like the pages in our book of memories, brings the morning sunlight. I feel your morning calls in my heart and remember so much we shared. Missing you I do, but knowing that you, Christopher, my mother, yours and all our loved ones remain connected for an eternity, calms my spirit.

Ted,
My prays an thought are with you during this time of sorrow. Linda will be surely missed. I remember working with her at Childrens. You could always count her for a good laugh and surprises. Always thinking of others before herself and making you feel special in her own way. I always enjoyed visting her at her desk, looking at the new pictures she was always putting up on the wall. She will be missed. Chris was there guide her home. I always admire for her outgoing spirit. If something bothered her she spoke her mind and let you know.
May her spirit be your guide in the comings months. Chris and her are always with you.

It is hard to imagine Cardiology at Children's without Linda. The grace and style that characterized her whole life made every encounter with her a pleasure. This is truly a great loss.

To the Manuel family, I am just so very sorry for your loss. Linda, your husband and my dad have been friends for almost 50 years. The friendship has been amplified in the aftermath of my own Mother's untimely loss.
I remember sitting and talking with you for the longest time about love and relationships at a Kappa Quarter Century Club event. I remember telling you how much I admired your relationship with Ted and how "flirty" you two still were with each other.
I so appreciated you telling me that my life was fine just the way it was. That I was young and vibrant and to just keep living the life I was living. It is a salient lesson. My father is very sad with your loss coming so close to Ellis Reid's. We are most grateful for your friendship and for the time we had with you. We are enriched for having known you.
God bless you and your family.
Much love,
Sabrina Miller ("Sid's daughter")

Linda Pan,
I miss and love you very much. You will always be in my heart. Your easy grace and non-judgmental manner have always inspired me. I am so grateful you were there to witness the birth of our sweet Lilli Pan! She will always believe that her gram and her mom are close friends of Peter and his sister. I will cherish that moment with you forever. You touched my mothers life in such a beautiful and loving way, thank you for always being there for her.
Love,
Rae Pan

Linda, I so wish you could be on the other end of the phone right now! Although our friendship seemed to grow from the tragedy of losing Christopher; my life gained new meaning from the lessons I learned from you. I am so deeply saddened that you had to leave us yet at the same time I am delighted that you are holding your beautiful son in your arms once again! I know that is what you've been waiting for. Both you and Chris are in my heart forever and ever. Thank you for all you've given.
