Lila Bozich Obituary

Bozich, Lila Lou (nee DeWitt) Age 88, passed away peacefully at her home on May 11, 2017, following a brief illness. Lila was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 10, 1929 and lived the last ten years in Downers Grove, IL. Lila was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anthony, and her brother, Roy DeWitt, and her first child, Susan DeWitt. Lila was the cherished mother to six surviving children and dedicated her life to raising them, John (Dee) Bozich, Bruce (Therese) Bozich, Nancy (Richard Zipf) Bozich, Mark (the late Becky) Bozich, Laura (Michael) Allen and Barbara (Gary) Wong. Lila was a proud and loving grandmother to Ashley (Jason) Droege, Adam (Lauren) Bozich, Kyle (Allison) Zipf, Ryan (Jennifer) Bozich, Nicholas Bozich, Peter Bozich, Patrick Evan Gibbs and Katherine Bozich. Lila was survived by her sister, Shirley Comanici and many nieces and nephews. Lila was known as a tireless volunteer and advocate for women's and children's charities. Her love of gardening was legendary, as was her passion for world travel and spending many happy hours with her family. She will be remembered for her gentle nature, strong Christian beliefs, non-judgmental attitude and enduring patience and strength. When she was diagnosed with aggressive lung cancer a few short weeks ago, Lila encouraged her family to be strong and grateful for God's many blessings, traits most befitting of herself. She was truly an inspiration to all who knew her. She handled her demise with the beauty, grace and dignity that were the essence of her being. Funeral Monday 9:15 a.m. from Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave., Darien to Our Lady of Peace Church, 701 Plainfield, Darien, IL. Visitation 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Modell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Bridge Communities or St. Thomas Hospice would be appreciated. For funeral info: (630) 852-3595 or www.modelldarien.com

"Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.

All is well."

I will never forget giving Lila a ride on our waverunner 2 summers ago. I was driving slow and she commented to me, "Does this thing go any faster?" I told her to hang on tight and then we were off to the races! I marveled how her hair stayed in place! Love you Lila!
