Leon hired me as a salesperson at the EF MacDonald Incentive Company prior to its acquisition by Carlson Companies. He was the best manager throughout my entire career in sales over a span of 30+ years. Leon was patient and understanding with new people. He was an excellent mentor and leader. I admire him most for standing up to adversity and maintaining a positive attitude in the worst of circumstances. He would always tell me "things will work out for the best, they always do." Over the years, I realize more and more how right he was. He would also tell me that with so many things to contend with in this world, concern yourself with that which really matters, namely your family, your health, your friends, your financial well being, your work, your personal and professional goals, education, your life long customers and reputation. Think big ideas and find ways to make them happen.
Leon's other outstanding quality was his compassion for his fellow man. He always found a positive attribute with everyone, whether it be a co worker, customer or competitor. He never said a bad word about anyone. Further, he was tight lipped. You could tell him anything in confidence with the security that the information would stay between you and him.
Leon will be sorely missed. I learned more from him in 6 years than any other manager or business leader
