Upin, Leon age 89, beloved husband of Rivian (nee Raff), loving father of Ira (Jennifer Bruce) Upin, Andrea Upin Deutch and Lenard (Laura) Upin, cherished grandfather of Joshua (Carla), Helen and Tessa Upin; Charles, Harry, Benjamin and Robert Deutch; Mindy, Ricky and the late Noah Upin, adored brother of Ethel (the late Morry) Appleman, devoted son of the late Isaac and Anna, fond son-in-law of the late Mollie and Harry Raff, dear brother-in-law of Allan (Harriet) Raff and the late Ruth L. Raff, also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Services Monday, October 31, 2005, at 12 noon, at Weinstein Funeral Home North Shore Chapel, 111 Skokie Blvd., Wilmette. Interment Westlawn Cemetery. Mr. Upin was a founding member of Skokie Central Traditional Synagogue and a longtime member of Congregation B'nai Emunah. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to Skokie Valley Hadassah, 4711 W. Golf Rd., Suite 600, Skokie, IL. 60076 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
