Leon Blitt, 88; beloved husband for 63 years of Irene nee Blitstein; loving father of Jan Gaines (Andy Kenoe and the late Gary Gaines), Fred (Sally) Blitt and Stacy (David) Gordon; adored Papa of Jack, Mitchell, Jessica (fiancé Sam), Benjamin, Jason (fiancée Miranda), Rachel (Zach), Johanna (Daniel), Molly (fiancé Daniel) and Emily; treasured step-brother, uncle and friend of many. Leon was born in Datyn, Poland which is now Ukraine and is a survivor of the Holocaust. He is mostly defined by his family and the love he had for everyone. He welcomed anyone into his home and made sure they left well fed. He spent 40 plus years as a 'furniture man' as owner of National Furniture Company located on Chicago's South Side. He always had a good story to tell. He will be deeply missed. Chapel service Friday, 10:00 AM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park.
