Leo was my dearest friend for 70 long lovable years. We talked, we debated, we agreed, we disagreed, we did all the many endearing and foolish things close friends do over time. There was no one in my world more articulate, passionate and ready to engage in enlightened conversation. In Leo, Joan and I had a lifelong friend whose mind and heart were both forever available to us. To us he will never be gone. Just away. Peace wondrous friend, peace

I considered Leo to be a patriarch of the Magidson branch of his family. His mother, Esther, was my grandfather's sister. As a little boy, Leo lived in the same building that my grandfather (his uncle) owned and that my father grew up in on Flournoy Street in Chicago. Leo was nine years younger than Dad. He knew many of the stories about and much of the history of the family. He also shared with me one-of-a-kind family photographs. I loved getting together with Leo and listening to his perceptive recollections about relatives both of us knew. He had a good sense of humor, too. I'm sure everyone smiled at least the first few times when listening to his answer phone greeting. I am so glad I was able to get together with Leo a little before the Covid crisis and to talk with him on the phone just a few days ago. I was just about to call him then when he called me. I will miss Leo dearly and will continue to think about him fondly for the rest of my life.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always. Leo was my boss, mentor, confidant and the father I never had. I loved him dearly and will sorely miss him and his guidance.

Leo will always be remembered for his mentoring, guidance, and trustworthy characteristics as a partner over the many years. He was a person who could always be relied upon by his fellow human beings. He was a real mensch.
