Lee Casey Obituary

Casey, Lee (Casey Lee Hojnicki) Age 69 of Calumet City, IL, was called to his Heavenly home on Thursday, August 2, 2012 after a brief battle with a rare, but aggressive cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, Casmir R. Hojnicki, who passed away on June 9, 2005. Lee is survived by his mother, Charlotte S. Hojnicki, 90, of Terre Haute, IN and formerly of Calumet City, IL; sister, Marcia L. Downs of South Holland, IL; brother, Robert S. Hojnicki; and his wife, Dorene of Terre Haute, IN; nephew, Christopher Downs; niece, Amanda Downs of Los Angeles, CA; and dear cousin and caregiver, Nancy Miller. Lee was a very perceptive and deeply compassionate individual. He had a love for music and was an accomplished guitar player, beginning with a basement group called the "Stereos" in the early 60's. They played background bass and rhythm guitar to many well-known Chicago land groups. Lee used the music of Heartsfield, Poco and Pure Prairie League to relieve life's stresses. Lee had a deep love for the injured or abused animals that he often took home to restore back to a more comfortable life. He once said, "Guardian angels come with four paws", in reference to the love he felt for his four-legged friends, Lady, Bella, Lenny, Lucky and Buddy. Lee Casey worked as a mechanic for Republic Steel Corporation, the Art Institute of Chicago, as well as other Chicago companies. He retired recently from the Campus Police Department of South Suburban College in South Holland, IL. Lee will be greatly missed by his family, many friends, and animals.
