Lawrence E. Wood, age 91, of Wilmette, IL, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026. He was born on June 17, 1934 (Father's Day) at home in Beverly Hills, CA.

Loving husband to Nancy for 56 years. Father to Larry Jr., Holly, Rob, Jeff, and Shelley.Grandfather to 12 and great-grandfather to 3.

Larry served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was an avid amateur radio operator and member of the NSRC for many years.

Larry loved to dance and was a past member of North Shore Squares.

A longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church, he was active in many areas. Larry served as Boy Scout Leader in Troop 9. Larry enjoyed attending Camp Arcadia each year, and helped open and close camp and working on the archives.

Larry is survived by 2 sisters, Roberta and June. He was preceded in death by his sister Pat.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 7, 9:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 1235 Wilmette Avenue, Wilmette, IL until time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church, 1235 Wilmette Avenue, Wilmette IL 60091 or Camp Arcadia Archives, Camp Arcadia, 3046 Oak Street, Arcadia, Michigan, 49613.
