Lesch, Laurie

Laurie Ann Lesch, age 59, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away at home after an extended illness, surrounded by her family, on Monday, February 26, 2024. Laurie was born in Gary, Indiana on July 1, 1964 to Merritt and Madeline (Parthun) Lesch. She was a 1982 graduate of Andrean High School in Merrillville, Indiana. She continued her education and received her nursing degree in 1994 from Purdue University School of Nursing. Laurie and Brenda knew each other for 38 years and were married for 25 years. They celebrated their anniversary the entire month of June.

Laurie was always a hard worker and did many different jobs until she began her nursing career. She worked in home health for several agencies, St. Mary's Medical Center in Hobart, IN until she moved to Indianapolis, where she worked for Ortho Indy for 10 years. Laurie loved nursing and was very concerned about her patient care and comfort and was excellent at her job.

Laurie was an avid athlete. She excelled in many sports including volleyball, basketball, softball and flag football for many years. Laurie loved the beach, camping, fishing, casinos, dogs, music, her family and friends, and a good party. She was the life of the party and always turned her backyard into a dance party. Laurie was welcoming to everyone and she always lit up the room.

Laurie is survived by her wife, Brenda Bucci; siblings, Christine (Chas) Stevenson, Carol Holmes, Catherine (Bob) Trzeciak, Cynthia Schafer, Lynn (John) Nickovich, Michael (Cindy) Lesch and Mark Lesch; mother-in-law, Nancy Vaughn; dear friend, Ellen Dreska; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; her 2 dogs and 2 cats; and so many friends we can't list. Laurie was preceded in passing by her parents, Merritt and Madeline Lesch; brother, Robert Lesch; sister-in-law, Karen Lesch; brother-in-law, David Holmes; and father-in-law, Larry Vaughn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 10:30 AM CST at St. Mary of the Lake, 6060 Miller Avenue, Gary IN 46403. A luncheon for family and friends will immediately follow Mass at Gino's Banquet Hall, 1967 E. 37th Avenue, Hobart IN 46342.
