Lala Carvajal Obituary

Carvajal, Lala Librada (nee Alvarado), age 88, born August 17, 1915, in El Paso, Tx., member of the Lakeview Community, employee of the Cook County Clerks Office for 25 years, Precinct Captain of the 46 Ward. Mrs. Carvajal was called home to God on August 8, 2004. We shall celebrate here life for Lala's faith gave her the inner peace to seek a new beginning with God and those who have passed before her. Surrounded by family and friends her strength at the end was an inspiration to us all and equal to that in which she lived her entire life. Cancer survivor at age 83, Lala's spirit could not be overcome to disease. She continued to thrive in good health and mind up until these last few weeks. Beloved mother of Helen Alvarado, Carmen Porrata and Nick Carvajal, proud grandmother of Eric, Brenda and Michael Porrata, Nick Jr. and Jessica Carvajal, devoted great-grandmother of Destiny, Alexandra and Iris, dearest aunt to the Avila Family, cherished daughter of the late Merced and Maria (nee Negro) Alvarado, loving sister to the late Theresa Avila and a friend to all who knew her. Funeral Friday, 9 a.m. from The Montclair Lucania Funeral Home, 6901 W. Belmont Ave., to St. Andrew Church. Mass 10 a.m. Interment Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
