L. Maxine Cook Bast, 89, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, an elementary school teacher in central Iowa for a number of years, died on Thursday, May 16, 2002. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, May 19, 2002, 3-6 p.m., at Gross Funeral Home, 120 Wright's Lane, Hot Springs. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, May 20, 10 a.m., at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend Sam Williams and Reverend Eugene Bartell. Burial will be at Crestview Cemetery. Memorial donations are appreciated to Oaklawn United Methodist Church, c/o Gross Funeral Home, 120 Wright's Lane, Hot Springs, AR 71913-6239. Arrangements entrusted to Gross Funeral Home, Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Growing in up at Oaklawn I always remember Mrs. Maxine being there for all of the events. I moved away after high school but when I got married several years later the Bast came to my wedding I was truly touched. I will always have a special place in my heart for you both. God has added another angel to watch over us all.
