Hi, This showed up in my email today. There are no coincidences, so i felt compelled to write something. My brother Kevin died the same way your son Kevin died. Once in a while your family will pop in my head and thoughts and prayers go up for the both of you. My prayer is that you somehow find peace with your great loss and that you see your son everywhere. God knows my brother's spirit continues on.... God Bless

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear Jean and Kevin, Though there are no words to console, I think Joe Kennelly's words today were blessed with wisdom. Kevin loved with a big heart. Your lives can continue to make him proud to be the son of great parents, parents with big hearts. I pray that God will give you the strength to keep alive all those things Kevin dearly loved about you both. He can be the guiding star. God Bless you and hold you tight.

Kevin, Although I haven't seen you in many years I regularly heard about you and your wonderful family through my parents and brothers in Beverly. Your son was clearly a reflection of the love that you and your wife gave him throughout his life. He was clearly a Carmel man who demonstrated through example the honour of the peacemaker. Like all of us with children Kevin's age, we can only imagine the pain that you are going through. I will pray for all of you and please know your son and his example will never be forgotten. God bless him and may he rest in peace.

To the Kennelly Family......My prayers and condolences go out to you. I know your hearts are broken...may God give you peace and comfort during this terrible time. My grandson goes to Mt Carmel...also plays baseball there. I did not know Kevin...but...I do know you raised a wonderful, caring young man. Take care and always look to God....He will be there to give you strength...God Bless. Gail Dodson (Cedar Lake,IN)

Dear Jean and Kevin,
I am one of your neighbors in Beverly, and I cannot get over the heartbreak you must feel. I too have a son who would most likely try to intervene with a fight, always the protective one, and I realized this could happen to anyone. I have heard nothing but kind words about your son, Kevin, as we have a friend in common. It just doesn't seem fair. Please know you are not alone in your grief. There are so many people that are thinking about you and praying for your family. I just felt a need to let you know. I really wish I could have known your son, but as a parent, anyone can empathize with your loss.

I am a student who goes to Loyola. I am not a close friend of Kevin's, but I know a lot of kids who go to Carmel and have nothing but good things to say about him. I am so sorry for your loss. It's very hard to comprehend how a fleeting moment can take away such a precious thing as life. Kevin is with God now.
July 8, 2011
I'm just a neighbor in West Beverly - and I'm well aware there are no words for your loss. I know Kevin is in God's hands and watching over you. God knew when he was bringing Kevin into the world and when he was going to take him home - though we can never understand it - when we get there we will. You brought a wonderful boy into the world and he was here for a reason somewhere, somehow, his mission was completed. Bless all of you!

You and your family are in my prayers this morning. I’m from the neighborhood and my brother Kevin was 19 years old when he was an innocent bystander at a party and was hit over the head with a two-by-four and died of head trauma. A senseless act that affected all families involved forever. I said a prayer to both Kevins today to be with all families during this tragic time. Kevin will always be with you in spirit. Peace.

Dear Jean and Kevin, family and friends - Once more I would like to share with you my deep sorrow at the death of your beloved Kevin. From what everyone has told me, to know him was to love him and he certainly was easy to love. He was Good, with a capital 'G'. When tragdies happen, God's heart is the first of our hearts to break. But Kevin's life was not a tragedy, but a gift to yuo and to everyone who loved him. He was the miracle child, the one who made life beautiful. The Carmelite motto is 'with zeal I will be zealous for the Lord God of hosts.'He was filled with zeal and enthusiasm for everyone and for evrything he did. He certainly was a Carmel man, caring about everyone and everything. The Carmelite scapular he wore bears a special promise that 'you will go home to heaven when you die.' There are two strings attached to the scapular promise - love and service. Kevin did that for everyone. As yuo celebrate his 'homegoing', remember if you believe in Jesus, you will never say 'goodbye' for the last time. Parents who lose children know the promise of eternal life is real. Death kills bodies but not the relationship of love. Finally, to his many friends, I quote a song - "He is your forever friend, from the darkest night to the rainbow's end, he will be your forever friend." Remember always his legacy of love and light, joy and laughter. May
God hold Kevin and all of you in His loving hand - and not squeeze you too hard.

Jean and Kevin - I was so sorry to hear the heartbreaking news about your Kevin. It was just a few weeks ago we were at the cousins reunion and Jean, you were telling me all about Kevin, his love of baseball and what a wonderful young man he was growing into. So many people have been moved by his story. You two and Kevin created a circle of love that's surrounding you both right now and it's getting larger every minute. You are very much in my thoughts during this sad time. All my love, your cousin Ann Cunniff
