Kenneth Peyton 'Pat' Wood
Kenneth Peyton "Pat" Wood, 82, of Madison Heights, died Thursday, July 5, 2007, at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor Bryant Wood for 60 years.
Born February 7, 1925, in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Fred D. and Virginia M. Wood. He was retired from the Norfolk- Southern Railroad and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Wood was a member of Madison Heights Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Fred D. Wood Jr. and one sister, Betty W. Tyler.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Wood is survived by two daughters, Carolyn W. Dawson and her husband, Dan, of Amherst, and Cathy W. Cash and her husband, Carlton, of Madison Heights; four grandchildren, Jason Dawson and his wife, Heather, Stephanie Feyerherd and her husband, Robert, Chad Dawson and his wife, Dana, and Barry Cash; one great-grandson, Cameron Feyerherd; and one step-great-granddaughter, Haley Feyerherd.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Whitten Monelison Chapel by the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton, the Rev. Paul Land, and the Rev. Mary Kearns. Interment with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Madison Heights Christian Church or the American Lung Assoc.
