Kenneth O'Brien Obituary

O'Brien, Kenneth J. "Boompa" 80, of Woodstock, died Monday, February 24, 2003 at his home. He was born July 10, 1922 in Chicago, but grew up in Cicero. He was the son of Jsoeph K. and Sarah (Campbell) O'Brien. He married Elaine Brown on April 15, 1950 at St. Attracta in Cicero. She passed away in 1986. Mr. O'Brien was a WWII Veteran, serving as a Navy Seabee from 1943 to 1946. He formerly lived in the Carol Stream and Lombard area, and was a member of the Villa Park V.F.W. Post. He had been employed as a Stationary Engineer with the Chicago Board of Education. He is survived by his children, Kenneth (Judith) O'Brien, Kevin (Beth) O'Brien, Patricia (Thomas) Willhoit, Peggy O'Brien-Winikates. He was a loving grandfather of nine. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feburary 26, 2003 at the Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, in Woodstock. The funeral mass will be Thursday, February 27, 2003 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Woodstock. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. in Hillside, Illinois. 815-338-1710. . We enjoyed bowling with Ken for many years on Tuesday in the Senior league. He was a lot of fun. He will be missed.

May we express our sympathy to his family.

We will miss the happy times we spent with Ken each week at our Senior Bowling League each Tuesday.

He was always so cheerful and full of fun. In addition to that, he was a real competitor. Our condolences to all the family.
