Mr. Bates wss my History teacher at MacArthur Jr. High in the 65/66 shool year. Oh yes, the ducking of erasures was common if you weren't paying attention. Great teacher and very fair. He even reffed a couple basketball games I played. He leaves a wonderful legacy. I never forgot him. RIP and God bless.

In 1969-70, he was my history teacher at Mc Arthur Jr. High. A lot of the funniest memories I have from there include him. He was a great teacher and he told great jokes, he made learning fun.
May he rest in peace. My condolences to his family.

Mr Bates was my History teacher in 6th grade and also my wrestling coach. I'd have to say from what I remember he was a great man with an excellent sense of humor! I know that God has a plan not only for him but also for his family whom I'm sure will be missing him. As they mourn I hope they remember that he was excellent servant. God bless the Bates family.

Mr. Bates was my 7th & 8th Grade History teacher 1965-66) at MacArthur Jr. High. He was tough but fair. Also Chaperoned our "Springfield"trip. I remember dodging a few "erasers" launched my way for not paying attention in class. Blessings for his Widow, children & Grandchildren.
