Kathleen Doody Obituary

Kathleen A. (Heaphy) Doody, 56, of Troy, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Albany Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of Jane A. Barry Heaphy and the late James M. Heaphy. Beloved wife of the late Robert E. Doody who predeceased her on August 23, 2004.

Born in Albany, Kathy was a lifelong resident of the Capital District area. She had worked for and been associated with St. Michael the Archangel Church her whole life. At age 13 she started working as the church housekeeper. Her interest in music inspired her to take organ lessons so that she could become the pastoral musician for St. Michael’s. She had been an organist at the church, as well as the director of both the children’s and adult’s choir. When St. Michael’s was rebuilt, Kathy became the first church secretary.

In addition to her mother, Kathy is survived by her sisters, Patricia M. Cahill (Craig) of Schodack, Eileen M. Heaphy-Baldwin (Darryl) of Troy, and Peggy Anne Farah (Avraham) of Hillsborough, NJ, her brothers, James M. Heaphy (Debbie) of Cohoes, and Donald Heaphy (Debbie) of Troy. She was the godmother of Michael F. Cahill and Tricia M. Heaphy. Kathy is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at St. Michael the Archangel Church on Thursday from 4 - 8pm. The funeral will be held at the church on Friday at 9:30am. Interment, St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Troy. Donations in Kathy’s memory may be made to St. Michael’s Church Youth Choir, 175 Williams Road, Troy, NY 12180. For directions and guestbook please visit www.leahy-bocketti.com

Dear Kathy,

I would not have known you if not for your kind and

encouraging letters to me and my late wife Rachel when

she was passing the difficult days of many operations.

Rachel loved you and your letters where you had shown

a big heart and warm sympathies which, also, had fully

captured my respect and imagination.

You have determined and insisted to be with your

husband and got it.

Strange as that may be, we should be happy that you

have achieved your heart's wish.

I have passed the trauma of such a big loss, the pain

and suffering, but your family and whoever thinks of

Kathy should resign to His will and your wish.

Hard to say, yet so sorry I must say:

"Goodbye Dear!"

To Kathy's family:

Words can't express the sadness I have when I heard of Kathy's passing.

Growing up at St. Michael's and being with Kathy thru 1st communion, Religious Ed Classes,Confirmation, and being of course an altar boy will always be some of my fondest memories of Kathy to me.

I will always remember how proud she was of me when I became a funeral director. She told me it was a "calling" I had. I truly believe that.. And now she has had her "calling" to the lord. Now I picture Kathy playing her organ and Bob playing his guitar, together again playing the music I had the privledge to listen to for many years. I will miss Kathy and the inspiration she instilled in me growing up.

Dear Kathy and Family,

While I never got to know you, Kathy, I heard of you through Avi and Peggy Farah. Both told me that you were remarkably sincere, genuinely kind, deeply respectful of others, and endlessly committed to your church and the Lord.

Since you were so in life, it wouldn't be terribly difficult to guess where you'd be in the hereafter.

May your precious soul enjoy peaceful bliss.

Sincerely,

Sam Farah

I remember Sundays after Mass, over coffee and stollen that Kathy baked, she would visit with my Aunt Rosemary Leonard in her kitchen on Stowe Avenue. She was just a young girl at the time but her company and friendship meant so much to my Aunt. I will always remember her sweet compassion for others and her angelic voice as she sang the "Ave Maria" for my Aunt, my mother and father when they were laid to rest. May the angels now sing for her.

Dear Heaphy family - How many of you and in-laws have I worked with and loved ! Cathy was such an angel and with the voice of an angel. Every time I saw her she always remembered something to let you know you were loved and appreciated. Because I had no relatives this side of the NMissippi I always felt you were family. I am so glad Kathy and Bob found each other and are now reunited in heaven.

I will always carry with me fond memories of Kathy. When I was young, the fun times we shared being a part of St. Michael's family. She was my mentor when I made my confirmation, taught me to sing when I joined the choir and shared her beautiful voice when I married. I absolutely loved her. She made everyone she came in contact with feel special. She will be deeply missed.

Dearest Kathy,

No words could ever explain how much you will be missed. Though we all know that you are now back with Bob and happy as usual, you'll be greatly missed. For all of the times at practice when you made me into a singer and person that I'm proud of, I thank you with all of my heart. You are so influential in my life and I'll never forget all that you've done. Just do one thing for us, rest comfortably with Bob until we get the chance to see you again.

Love you

Christine

To Kathy and Family,

Kathy was a person who thought of everyone all the time, she made sure that no one went without a gift around the holidays and made sure that everyone felt welcome.

Kathy was the oldest sister but was more willing to fill in the role of a friend, a conversationalist and someone to laugh with.

Kathy you left an emotional void at your departure.

With all my love,

Avi Farah
