Katherine Szpinalski Obituary

Occasionally, we are graced with the presence of an earth bound angel. They are unable to stay with us for long, but while they do, they bring unprecedented joy and happiness to all they touch. While they are here, we bask in their goodness and marvel at their contribution to the world. When they leave, we are left with the devastation that comes with losing such a wonderful being...but we must remember...the earth bound Angels are not ours to keep.

They are ours to enjoy, learn from, and behold until they are called back home.

When we grieve, it is because we have loved someone deeply, but if we have loved deeply, then we are very lucky indeed. Katie's spirit will remain present with you. Without her your reach would not have been as high, nor your love as deep. Every person is a person of eternity, and not just a noble spirit of memory, and the reaches of eternity extend to this side of the grave as well as on the other.



Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Your bodyguard of friends stands ready to comfort you in whatever way we can. Wishing you God's peace.

I am sorry I was not able to attend the wake and funeral. I would have loved to see you, unfortunately on an unhappy note. I want you to know that all my friends and I at Purdue are praying for you. It's hard to realize I will never get another instant message from Katie asking about boys. I'll miss her like crazy.

Ed, Donna, and Family- It is very hard for me to describe my emotions and feelings. But, I know that Katie has found God, although very much too soon. She is a beautiful girl and has been ultimately blessed to be in God's presence. Katie and our family will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

Donna: It was less than 2 weeks ago when we had a short conversation at your desk in which you gave me an update on how your children were doing. I must confess I can't recall exactly all the details but what I took away from our talk was the way you were absolutely beaming when describing them. It was evident the love you had for each. Dear Donna, this news and the circumstances are shocking. It reveals how precious life is and the time we share together as family and friends. The most comforting thing I've found is God's hope of a resurrection of all those asleep in death. The safest place to be is in God's memory. Jesus performed this miracle when he was on earth and he will do it again at God's appointed time. He promises at John 5:28-29 (All those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice & come out...to a resurrection.) Faithful men of old like Job had this hope firmly in mind and we should draw comfort from it too especially at these times of extreme heartache. Our Creator does indeed feel the depth of our pain and beseeches us to throw our burdens on Him to help and strengthen us. True to his promise, he will soon thrust out his hand to undo the effects of sin and death. (Revelations 21:3-4) We have no greater promise or hope than what he offers, so we should cling to it with all our hearts and rely on each other to endure through these tragedies. Your family will certainly be in my prayers.
