Julia Boukalis Obituary

Julia Zephyrine Boukalis, 95, of Weatherford, a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, at St. Stephens Catholic Church. Visitation and Rosary: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel. Julia was born Aug. 26, 1921, to Julius and Kathryn Struczko Prusko. Julia was raised and educated in Worcester, Mass., until 1943 when she married and departed for the Canal Zone. She joined the Department of the Army and retired as a financial administrative assistant after 25 years. Julia was a staff officer for the CZGS of A. She also worked at district and troop level. She received the high award, "Thank You Plaque," from the GS of A for her activities. She was an active member of the St. Mary's Mission, was active in raising funds to start the parochial school in the zone, was president of Altar Ros Society, worked closely with two orders of nuns. She also helped at the Palo Sero Lepu Colony and raised funds for medicine for needy families that the sisters attended to. Julia was a member of the CZ Society, Catholic Daughters of Americas and member of St. Stephens Catholic Church Survivors: Children, Cynthia Humphreys, Robert Boukalis, and Kenneth Boukalis; grandchildren, Daniel Humphreys, Jeff Humphreys and Jon Paul Humphreys; great-grandchildren, Chance, Keelyn, and Marissa Humphreys; sister, Irene Kaminski; numerous nieces and nephews.
