Jules Mellow Obituary
Mellow, Jules age 85, beloved husband of Eve for 60 wonderful years. Cherished father of Dr. Alan and Terri Mellow, Ted Mellow & Beth Silver, Cathy and Chris vonEhrenkrook. Proud and loving Papa of Amy, Lisa, Arie and Zach Mellow, Heather and Brandon vonEhrenkrook. Dearest brother of Sherry (the late Irwin) Krule. Dear uncle and great uncle, cousin and friend to many. To say that Jules was multifaceted would be the understatement of his time with us. He blessed us as scholar, teacher, mentor, linguist, comedian, magician and overall resource for all things Jewish (his clippings collection would rival any library!), including his work with Elie Wiesel in the design of the Holocaust Memorial, The Tower of Remberance at Shalom Memorial Park. This was the pinnacle of his 50 years of service at the park. What's more, he shared his gifts with us in not one or two, but at least five languages (and a smattering of a few more). Chapel service Monday 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 Rand Rd., Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. Donations in his memory may be made to The American Heart Association, 3816 Payshere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674 or to Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies, 610 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60605. Jules was a wonderful teacher to my three kids at Cong. Beth Shalom, and he (and Eve) were caring upstairs neighbors to my mother, Evelyn Schwimmer, on Farwell Ave. My deepest condolences, but do celebrate a life well lived!
