I saw Judy's picture in the obituary section, and knew that she looked familiar. I noticed that she was the same age as me, and thought we had graduated from high school together. But from reading the guest book and seeing that she grew up in the city, I remembered how I knew Judy. She was my roommate in the hospital in 1972 when I had mononucleosis. I was there for 8 days, and we were roommates the entire time. We really bonded, since I had only bathroom priveleges and could not leave my bed. One time Judy and I decided to sneak up the top of the roof of Edgewater Hospital, I forget what they called it. She also turned me on to "All My Children", which I still watch to this day. We kept in touch for a while after our hospitalizations, but then somehow lost touch. I am so sad to see she passed away a year ago. I would love to hear from Lance, if you read this. I hope you are getting through this difficult time.

Lance, I just recently heard of Judy's passing. I am truly sorry for your loss. Judy was a wonderful person, in mind and spirit. She was always there when the boys or I needed advice or assitance. I am praying for you, for your daughter.

Ms. Oakland always had a smile from ear to ear. She brought warmth and happiness to GBN. I am greatly honored to have know such a wonderful woman.

Mrs Oakland (Manz) was such a wonderful person. She was there for me and my family when my mother passed away from cancer in 1989. When I got to Glenbard North (1990-1994) she was always there for me, either with a smile, or a kind word, or just a hug if I needed it. She will be greatly missed by anyone who ever knew her. She truly was one of a kind! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING MRS M!!!!

I was so saddened to hear about Judy. She was one of my best friends at Steinmetz High School. We are inseparable as Judy with a "y" and Judi with an "i". We were on the pom squad together. Judy was one of the most thoughtful and giving people I will ever come to know in my life. I will never forget her beautiful smile and outgoing personality. Some of my best times in high school were spent with "mile a minute". We called her that because she talked so fast and then laughed at herself. When I heard about her passing, I became numb and as I sit here writing this to you, I can't help but shed tears for one of my closest friends at a time when it was so important to have someone like Judy as a friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. May your memories of all the good times and her infectious personality help you both through this difficult time.

I was a Dean's aide when Ms. Manz (as she was called then) was an aide. She was always so nice and always had a smile on her face. I also had the pleasure of being apart of the relay this past year. She was a wonderful person. GBN will be a different place without her. She will be missed deeply.

Lance, I was sad to hear about passing of your wife Judy. I know she was a special person to everyone in the Carol Stream Community. Judy has reached so many young lives that her spirit will live forever. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Judy~ I also knew you as a strong go getter. As my Dean at GBN you had always given me the proper advice and direction to achieve my goals. After graduation you developed into a very close family friend, not only to me, but to my entire family. I have to say, my wife and I were truly blessed to have you read at our wedding. I have learned so much from you in the years you were hear, that this is almost unreal to me. You will be missed. To Lance and all your family, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Oakland Family,

I was a friend of Judy's ("Jammers" as we called her) in High School. Even though we did not stay in touch, the news of her passing was shocking to me. I remember Judy as others do, a vivacious, fun, energetic and very smart girl. I will always remember her for her funloving spirit and mature attitude. (I never even got mad at her when she dated the guys I liked)

I, along with several other of my classmates, am in the process of planning the 30 year reunion for our Steinmetz H.S. Class of 1974. The reunion committee just met on February 15 to mail out our invitations. Judy's name was brought up and we talked fondly of our remembrances of Judy at Steinmetz. It was a great shock when we found out that Judy had just passed away the day before we met. I would like to send my deepest sympathies to Judy's husband and daughter, and all the lives she has touched. She will be greatly missed and will be remembered as the smart, pretty and fun loving girl that she was at Steinmetz high school.

Mrs Oakland was such an amazing woman. She was always smiling every time I saw her. She helped me when my dad was away with the army, always lending a listening ear and wonderful comments that lifted my spirits. It was wonderful to work with her on graduation commitee and with relay for life. She will always be remembered by me and my family. She is in a beautiful place and I would expect nothing less for such an amazing woman. She truly was an angel on this earth. Class of 2002

I went to high school with Judy and she remains in my memory and my heart as a spirited, giving person who loved life and lived fully every day. My codolences to you both and if it's any comfort,know that she made postive differences in people's lives and left this place a little better for having been here.

I got to know Judy several years ago as I was part of the team that installed the new telecommunication systems in the Glenbard High Schools. I think Judy's warmth, caring and sense of humor just drew anyone in who met her. I unfortunately lost touch with her in recent years, but it was my privledge and pleasure to know her and I will never forget her.

We will allways remember Judy for the help she gave to her students and parents at Glenbard North.Becouse of people like her my daughter Jackie DiVito has gone on to become a wonderfull adult.

I knew Judy (Ms Manz) as a mentor at Glendbard North, a family friend and a hero in many eyes. I had the highest respect for her with going through so much, and not once considered quiting on herself or the many walks and fundraisers she lead. She was an angel on earth and now she will be a guardian angel from above. Your family is in our families prayers and thoughts. She will be missed!

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your daughter. I only knew Judy through the Relay and she seemed like such a wonderful person -- as are you, too. You both gave your all for the Relay. As a survivor, the Relay has a really special meaning to me -- I only wish that Judy could've stayed a survivor. She will be with all of us for many years to come.

Mrs. Oakland, or Ms. Manz as I knew you, I am deeply hurt at your loss. As a student at GBN from 89-93 I was not always the best person but you always had talks with me and made me realize how much potential I had. You always were a tough cookie. Everytime I went back to GBN to visit I made sure to see you....now I will be sad to have to change my routine when I come visit again. It just won't be the same. I'll miss you and hope to see you soon one day. My family and I will pray for your family for their GREAT loss.

I grew up knowing Judy as "Aunt Judy" , she was that close to our family. Over the years we sort of lost contact and I am glad that I recently got in touch. It's not easy finding out info. like this while you are away at school, but I am glad that I was informed.

Aunt Judy....you will be GREATLY missed by many; and I now have even more of a reason to continue my work with American Cancer Society: Relay For Life. I LOVE YOU; my prayers go to you and your family.
