Joyce Saarela Obituary

Joyce J. Saarela, 69, of Duluth, went to be with the Lord Monday July 28, 2003, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Duluth on March 24, 1934, to Archie and Ellen Renne. Joyce had attended the former St. Jean's School and later married Don E. Saarela in Duluth on Sept. 22, 1951. She worked in housekeeping at the Duluth Clinic and later retired as supervisor of housekeeping at First Bank Place. Joyce was a voracious reader who also enjoyed writing prose. She and her husband were known throughout the area as canary breeders. She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant son. Joyce is survived by her husband Don E.; daughter Gail L. (fiance Marvin) Francette of Cloquet; son Steven D. (Maj., U.S.A.F., Ret.,) (Jayne) of Saginaw; brother Archie D. Renne of Duluth; sister Jean Maxine Renne of Duluth; grandchildren Nicholas, Brianna, Kristin, and Lindsey; great-grandchildren Kiaya, and Rylee; aunt Edna Corser of Hermantown; and her loving dog Bambi. VISITATION:2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. service Friday, in Williams-Lobermeier-Andrews Funeral Home. Burial at Oneota Cemetery. Memorials preferred.
