I am looking for the family of James Varallo, who worked for RR. Donnelly Printing. I have an inscription in a book to him and it is rather humorous. I did not know another way to find his family so please accept my apologies for using this. If this is the right family, please email me at [email protected]. I would like to send pictures of the inscription to his family so they can have it too. I had found out that James's son was Chief of Police, and please accept my condolences for your loss. Tracy S.

Hi Jeanette.
I was sorry to hear about Joe's death. I believe he was the most well liked Supervisor in the department. He was certainly mine. I remember when I would work midnights and I would hear him on the radio very early in the mornings. A nice guy.

Dear Mrs. Varallo,
I remember you and Joe at my Grandfather's retired Skokie Police SRGT Frank Siegel's (1935-1955) Morton Grove Party for his 100th Birhtday celebration making it Morton Grove's "Frank Siegel Day" - sadly he had passed away a few days prior. I recall Grandpa being very good friends with Joe, I bet they both are in heaven telling Police stories and playing Pinochle. My deepest sympothies and prayers are with you and your family. I am very sorry I was not at the funeral services. Saddly, I found out too late.
With loving memories,
Frank Siegel's Grandaughter and Family, Pamela Sue Witherbee

Dearest Jeanette and family,
Take comfort in knowing that Joe is now in the arms of God. He is united with all of his beloved who have gone before him. He was a wonderful man whose mainstay was his faith and family. No more anguish or pain- he reaps his reward of eternal happiness.

Joe was a good friend for my entire career, we spent many hours riding in a squad car together. It was nice to see him make Chief and then to enjoy his retirement. He will be remembered by many.

Joe Varallo was a decent human being who treated his fellow officers with dignity and respect, never asking them to do something he wouldn't. It was an honor to have worked beside him for 30 years. My sympathy to the Varallo family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. "May God hold him in the palm of his hand."
