Joseph Ulaszek Obituary

Ulaszek Jr., Joseph P. 76, passed peacefully of heart failure in his sleep Friday, November, 11, 2016, at his home. Born and raised in the Bush neighborhood, he was the son of the late Joseph P. and Mildred (Zastonovich) Ulaszek and was a longtime resident of the East Side. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eleanore (Lopez) Ulaszek; sons, Joseph P. Ulaszek III (Dawn), Anthony W. Ulaszek; daughter, AnnMarie Manders (Cory); as well as his trusted 4-legged companions, Bella and Charlie. Joe was grandfather to four amazing grandchildren, Kyle, Janelle, Little Tony and Ellie; "Little Brother" to Ann (Ulaszek) Wilson (the late Lonnie); brother-in-law to the late Robert Lopez (Eva), the late William Lopez; Carol Schmerbach, Margaret Barrows and uncle to many nieces and nephews. After graduating from Mount Carmel in 1958, Joe was drafted into the U.S. Army where he spent time overseas. Upon his return to the States, he was employed as a barber, but this did not last long because of the damn hippies and their long hair. Joe was a retired electrician and a proud member of IBEW Local 134. He enjoyed spending time with family at their cottage in Cedar Lake, IN. A Memorial mass will be held Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. DIRECTLY at Church of the Annunciata, 11128 S. Avenue G, Chicago, IL 60617.

Joe will always have a special spot in my heart. He made me laugh & feel part of the family when I first met him 14 years ago. May he Rest In Peace. God bless his beautiful wife Elenore and the rest of the family. He will be sorely missed by many.
