Terry and The Poremba Family,
Joe was such a great man and role model to us all. We loved talking to him and he was so kind to our family and our kids. We have so many great memories of him; watching him run and exercise :) and faithfully cutting his grass EVERY Sunday! He was more than just a neighbor you wave to once in a while. We share in your grief and are so sad the world has lost such a wonderful person. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Uncle Joe-

To my favorite Uncle.. I will miss you very much. I admired/respect the man that you were...nothing got in your way...and if it did, you had the tact to dissolve any problem. You are a hero and I hope you are with Jesus having a "sit down" on memories...You are missed so much, but not forgotten.

I love you...peace be with you.

So sorry to hear about Joe's passing. As a copy editor in the Sun-Times Sports Department since 1980, I had the pleasure to work side-by-side with Joe for many years in the Composing Room. While printers and editors occasionally had disagreements, Joe was always able to keep his cool and get the job done in a professional manner. On a personal level, he often spoke of his wonderful family. Joe was a true gentleman and most certainly an "Extraordinary Joe."

We called Joe Rambo. He was a Tunnel Rat in Vietnam and distinguished himself well. At the Sun-Times Joe would never hesitate to help an editor in the composing room. May he rest in peace.
