Joseph Krol Obituary
Joseph J. "Joe" Krol, age 68, of Millcreek Township, died at UPMC Hamot, on Monday, April 4, 2016. Born in Erie, on June 21, 1947, he was a son of the late Joseph G. and Helen (Rupczewski) Krol.
Joe was a graduate of Tech Memorial High School and was employed as a Toolmaker at Swanson-Erie Corp. for 35 years. He was an active member of St. George Church where he co-chaired the summer festival for many years. He loved working with his hands, building and remodeling the house. He used his talents to create all kinds of wooden crafts, including toys and gifts for his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling until recent health issues limited his activities. He once had the privilege of fulfilling someone's wish through the local Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Joe is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia (Swain) Krol, of Millcreek Township; four children, Stephanie Varo, husband David, of McKean, Jennifer Ravert, husband Michael, of Slippery Rock, Pa., Melissa Karotka, husband Charlie, of Ashland, Mo. and Matthew Krol, wife CarrieAnn, of Waterford; 13 grandchildren, Brittany Varo Greene, husband Charlie, Nicholas and Mitchell Varo, Brian Krol, Victoria, Alexander and Adam Ravert, Gabrielle, Carter, Hailey and Anabelle Karotka, and Brayden and Adriana Krol; four siblings, Daniel Krol, wife Chris, Richard Krol, wife Denise, Anne Marie Davis and Steven Krol; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 W. 38th St., at Greengarden Blvd., Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and to attend prayers there Friday at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. George Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Independence Court and Western Reserve for their care and support for Joe.

Dearest Patty and all of Krol family and families . I am so sorry to hear of Joey passing .I can remember when you both were dating and then married it was the best news on our block of Prospect Ave .All our families were every close .We were blessed to have grown up in a wonderful time with amazing friends and parents .The Swain Family ,Meyer Family ,Krol Family are all apart of my wonderful memories that I will cherish forever Today is the first time I heard and read the Helen Keller verse at different times in one day .The meaning is beautiful .You all are beautiful people and will always be remembered and thought of in our hearts and prayers .Along with the family members , we will see again .Stay strong with the love you know and have . Dearest Pat and kids. Dave and I are so very sorry for your loss. Joe was a very good man. We have so many memories as friends and neighbors : Christmas'; having our youngest babies almost at the same time; going out dancing; corn roasts; and just visiting. Peace to all of you. I especially like Matt's tribute to his dad. Funny thing is I was just thinking of Joe sanding off the swirls in the girls bedroom so you could wallpaper. He was always building something or dong home repair. Prayers to all of you.
