Joseph Guerrero Obituary


Guerrero, Joseph M. "Joe Monk" of Fox River Grove, formerly of Chicago, peacefully passed away in his sleep, Saturday morning, May 29, 2004. Joe was born in Chicago on June 3, 1938, to the late Jose Torres and Hazel (nee Anderson) Guerrero. In 1956, Joe joined the U.S. Army and served at Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri, Hot Springs, Arkansas, San Antonio, Texas and Germany until his honorable discharge in 1958 when he married Carol Valadez from Chicago. Joe worked as a truck driver for O'Sullivan Cartage Co. and later for Nick Totoni/O'Sullivan Cartage Co. from where he retired in 1992. Joe was a loyal member of Teamsters Union Local #705. He is survived by his beloved wife Carol and his loving children, Joseph Michael, Anthony (Eva), Linda Anne and Mary Ellen, dear grandchildren, Anthony Joseph, Alex Michael, Adam Daniel, Eric Tobias, Adrienne Carol, Carol Anne, and Kip Martin, cherished step-grandchilden, Jermaine Joshua and Jenny Iris, sisters, Hazel Smith, Pauline Jones and brother Castro Guerrero, many nieces and nephews. Joe Monk was an avid fisherman, an expert handyman the "official" family fixer-upper, amateur mechanic and also enjoyed his ten-year long retirement by traveling with and visiting with his beloved family and friends throughout the United States. Visitation at Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee, Tuesday, 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services 10 a.m. in St. Moncia Catholic Church, Carpentersville, IL, Wednesday, June 2, 2004. Burial will be in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Cemetery, Fox River Grove, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105. Miller Funeral Home in charge of arrangements, 847-526-3436.

My sincere condolences to all of you. Uncle Joe Monk will be greatly missed by all of us, but I have some wonderful memories of him throughout my life; good memories of love, fun and support. He was a good man and I will cherish these memories of him forever. I'm glad he was a part of my life. My prayers are with all of you.
