Joseph Gentiluomo Obituary

Gentiluomo, Joseph Age 92 years. Beloved husband for 54 years to the late Anita; loving father of Linda Gentiluomo (Stan Walerczyk) and Joanne (Rick) Di Charia; cherished grandfather of 2; devoted great-grandfather of 2 and caring brother of Jane Gentiluomo. For most of his life, Joe was very healthy and near the end he was very accepting of his passing. Throughout his life, he was a happy man especially during his marriage and fatherhood. Joe liked people, was always willing to help others and had the energy to do it. His grandfather called him "Little Tornado" in Italian. He worked 42 years at Western Electric-AT&T, including being a union shop steward. During WWII, he volunteered for the military and was assigned to the Coast Guard in the New England Seaboard. Joe, with the help of others, built his own house and lived there for 56 years. Anita and Joe had very good vacations. Joe talked most about the Alaska one. A longtime member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Of course it will be okay to deeply miss Joe, but this memorial should also be a celebration of his life, because he did so many interesting things, was such a positive force and now is in a better place. Visitation will be Friday, January 18, 2013 from 5-8PM at Toon Funeral Home 4920 Main Street, Downers Grove, IL 60515. Funeral Services will be Saturday 8:45AM from the funeral home to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church 820 Division Street, Lisle, IL. Mass 9:30AM. Entombment Assumption Cemetery Wheaton, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Adventist St. Thomas Hospice or the Foundation of Peripheral Neuropathy: https://www.keepingyouwell.com/care-services/hospice or https://www.foundationforpn.org would be appreciated. Missing Uncle Joe and so many other family members. We would gather together quite often when I was younger. I miss that. He is with all his wife, brothers and sisters, mom and dad. They all watch over our family!

Hello Mr Gentiluomo was someone who I met through my previous employer, although I never met him in person we always talked over the phone. He was a very wise man and would alway invite me over so he could give me Tomatoes. I thought about him recently and figured I would try to reach out to him only to find out it was too late. I pray god gives you lots of comfort during your loss. Now he's with his beloved Wife the woman he would never stop talking about. May god bless this sweet man.
