John Williams Obituary



MOULTRIE — John Gaines Williams, 87, of Norman Park, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 at Brownwood Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., today, Dec. 11 at Purvis Funeral Home with the Rev. Edison Williams and the Rev. James Tyson officiating. Burial will follow at Brushy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born May 10, 1920, he was the son of the late Pharoe and Bessie Conger Williams. He was a member of Ellenton Church of God and was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife Maudell Fisher Williams of Norman Park; a son, Ray Bass of S.C.; six daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Buck McDaniel of Norman Park, Ruby Bass of Moultrie, Wanda and Greg Knight of Bainbridge, Ga., Debbie and Bobby Parker of Douglas, Ga., Faye and Dexter Moore of Douglas, Ga., and Shelby and Gator Fitzgerald of Moultrie; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Nellie Fisher of Tifton and Sally Ruth Bennett of West Berrien, Ga.

The family will gather at the home of Diane and Buck McDaniel, 225 Indian Lake Drive, Lot #25.

Purvis Funeral Home in Adel, Ga. is in charge of arrangements.
