John Saletta Obituary

It was always a privilege to work with him. A very kind man. I often think of him. RIP Dr Saletta.

Dr. Saletta performed a minor surgery on me and was my doctor for a various health issues. He was a very nice man and well respected at LGH. I just found out he passed, so sad to hear that. The tribute video they put together was very beautiful. He will be in my prayers. God bless him.

I was a surgical technician at Holy Cross Hospital for many years. I had the privilege
to not only work with Jack but also with his father. Jack was very kind and a pleasant Doctor to work with. It was a joy to have worked with the Saletta's May you rest in Peace.

To Suzanne and family members-- we just heard about Jack's passing, and are deeply affected, as you and Jack had been close professional and personal friends for almost 60 years, and he was universally admired and respected for his wonderful personality, his gentle, thoughtful and effective patient care, and, unfailingly, his superb surgical skill. Most notable, perhaps, was his compassion for those whom he encountered who required his technical skill and knowledge to become well. We'll all miss him greatly.

Such a kind and gentle soul. We always enjoyed seeing Jack at the bottom of the stairs at OSP with the Saletta clan. He will be missed.

Dear Saletta family,
Jack was a critical person in the building of Lutheran General Hospital to what it is today. As Chairman of Surgery he established Surgery as a Department and championed the hospital to become a Level 1 trauma center. He recruited many fine surgeons to join the medical staff in Orthopedics, Cardiac and Thoracic surgery and other critical areas. He was the driving force behind the Metro General surgery residency program at Lutheran General from the University of Illinois. Jack was above all a fine human being respected by his colleagues both in the Administration and on the Medical Staff. It was my privilege to know him and work with him to successfully resolve many difficult issues for over 10 years.
